2014-15 Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year Named

Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year for the 2014-2015 high school sports season is Dalton Button, a member of the football, basketball and boys track teams at Winamac High School.

Dalton completed a spectacular career with an unbelievable senior year that saw him be part of three Sectional Championship teams and adding a personal Sectional Championship as well.

Being part of Sectional championship teams in football, basketball and boys track while adding a Sectional championship in the shot put in track his senior year capped off a career which included 8 Sectional championships, a Regional title, and 7 Midwest Conference Championships.

Dalton was unquestionably a leader, having served as team Captain for the basketball team and being voted by his peers as the “Most Outstanding Teammate” in basketball while being named the Most Valuable Player in football.

He was All-Conference first team for 2 years in football and Honorable Mention 2 years in basketball. In addition, he was named All-State twice by the Indiana Football Coaches Association.

Statistically, in football, Dalton had 119 tackles, 95 assists, 38 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, and 4 quarterback sacks.

An outstanding student, Dalton will be attending Marian University in Indianapolis where he will be majoring in engineering while playing football.

Dalton is the son of Dave Button and Monica Potthoff.

Dalton received a beautiful plaque, a history of the award, and a college scholarship compliments of WKVI and the family of Tyler Roth.
