Hannah Howell 1/3/15
Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Hannah Howell, a member of the Girls Basketball team at South Central High School.
Hannah helped lead her 11th ranked team to a stunning 43-42 upset of previously undefeated and 8th ranked Class 3-A powerhouse Rochester in the opening round of the Winter Classic Tournament.
The veteran senior was a steadying influence for her team throughout the game, scoring 9 points, pulling down 5 rebounds, and coming up with a steal before hitting the winning free throw with just 2 seconds left in the game.
Hannah’s presence was most prevalent on the defensive end of the court, as she not only helped shut off the Zebras inside game, but protected the perimeter as well, where the Zebras 3-point game was crippled by her great hustle.
Hannah is the daughter of Nathan and Irene Howell.
