DONALDSON, IN- The Ancilla Men’s Soccer program will be under new direction beginning in the spring semester as Victor Newberg has been named the new head coach.

Newberg, the former men’s soccer assistant coach at Ancilla College, spent his collegiate playing career at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin. He currently serves as a head coach at Jr. Irish Soccer Club in South Bend, IN and at the Midwest Futsal Academy in Mishawaka, IN.

During his two seasons as the assistant coach for the Chargers, Ancilla made their first ever NJCAA National Tournament appearance where they finished third. The team finished its most current season 18-2 overall and 7-1 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Conference, winning the conference and the NJCAA Region 12 tournament.

“I am excitedvictor-newborg to be taking on the head coach position at Ancilla,” said Newberg. “It has been wonderful being a part of this program as Coach Jacobs’s assistant the last two years and I look forward to continuing to build upon the programs recent success.”

“We are fortunate to have an assistant coach that has been involved in the coaching and recruiting process for the quality players that we have had over the last two years,” remarked Ancilla College Athletic Direct Gene Reese. “We are confident that moving Victor into this new position with the experience and knowledge that he has, that the program will continue to have success.”
