Bremen makes the Sectional Championship game with win over Wabash

Surprise, Surprise!  Bremen involved in another Sectional Championship game!   Thanks to Ryan Toppers two touchdown catches, the Lions make their 5th appearance in the last 6 seasons to the Championship round of the Sectionals.

This game was close for three quarters before the Lions broke it open for the 42-38 Class 2A sectional semi-final win.

Bremen scored in the first six minutes to take a 14-0 lead.   They scored the first time on a 58 yd pass to Topper to go up 6-0, then a pick off on Chase Dirig resulted in a later score on a 3 yd run catch by Topper. The two point conversion made it 14-0 with 5:58 to go.

Wabash would find the answer they were looking for on a 10 play, 67 yard drive that ended with a Chase Dirig 1yd run with 1:06 left to make it 14-7.

Bremen would regain their 14 point lead with just over 3 minutes left in the first half thanks to a 9 yard touchdown run by Brett Lauderback to grab a 21-7 lead.

Not to be denied, the Apaches would answer. Chase Dirig would score from 3yds out with .28 remaining to make it 21-14. With just seconds remaining Bremen marched down the field and on the scoring attempt was intercepted by Grant Dirig in the end zone to end the half.

Wabash tied the score early in the third quarter when once again Frank Dirig connected to Chase on a 30 yard scoring strike and after the PAT it was 21-21.

On Bremen’s next possession they would drive 54 yards to grab the lead back at 28-21 wen Louderback scored for a second time with 4:06 to go.

Bremen would score twice in the fourth quarter, once on a pass play to Beau Beeson from 23 yards,  then the other off an interception by Topper for 69 yards to take a 42-21 lead.

Wabash added another score when Luke Proctor scored with 10 seconds remaining for the 42-28 final.

Bremen (6-5) will travel to Woodlan (8-3) for the Sectional Championship.
