9TH ranked Wabash moves to 8-0

So much for the possibility of a trap game. The march through the NCAC conference schedule to get to Wittenberg is over. The number 9th nationally ranked Little Giants are 8-0 after dismantling Hiram Saturday, 41-10. Former Plymouth Rockie Houston Hodges continues on a rampage thru the NCAC scoring two more touchdowns on Saturday. Hodges has recorded 7 touchdowns in the last 5 games.

Hodges first touch helped Wabash to jump out to a 14-0 lead on a fourth down, with a 28 yard completion in the back corner of the end zone . Early in the second quarter Wabash quarterback Michael Putko hooked up a gain for another 32 yard completion and Hodges was able to avoid three defenders for another touchdown over the middle. Hodges finished the game with 5 catches for 92 yards.

The game was played in less than desirable conditions at 37 degrees, strong winds, and rain. By the end of the contest, the precipitation had turned to sleet and snow.
So with the season’s first cold weather game and another win, it’s on to Wittenberg.

“It was our first time in cold weather and it’s good to get used to that,” Brown said. “We have a huge game next week but we were really trying to just concentrate on this week and do what we had to do. Now obviously we need to get ready for Witt.”

The Little Giants head to Springfield Saturday for what has become the annual showdown for the NCAC championship and likely automatic NCAA tournament berth. Wittenberg is 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the conference.
