Girls B-ball: John Glenn remains unbeaten after win over Plymouth

WALKERTON — Plymouth girls basketball head coach Dave Duncan believes Glenn is the real deal after watching the Lady Falcons beat his club, 51-45 Tuesday night.

“This is probably one of the better teams they’ve had over the years, and maybe the best,” said Duncan when asked about sixth-ranked Glenn.

“They are senior dominated and that sophomore point guard (Kyannah Stull) comes in and just dictates things on the floor offensively.”

Duncan was more than impressed with Stull, who led all scorers with 19 points and handed out eight assists.

“She knows her role and who to get the ball to,” Duncan explained. “She does a great job getting the shooters the basketball when they’re open.

“She’ll draw a double team and then kick it to the girls that are open.”

It’s perhaps the play of Stull that makes this Glenn team improved over last year’s.

“She creates so much,” said Glenn head coach Kyle Amor, whose team is 9-0. “Sometimes that part of her game gets unnoticed.

“She’s definitely the catalyst that gets us going.”

In addition to Stull’s offensive contribution against Plymouth, Glenn got 15 points from Kyler Columbia and 10 points from Loren Vukovits, who was saddled with foul trouble throughout the contest before fouling out.

Plymouth, which fell to 8-2 on the season, was led by sophomore Nicole Horvath’s 16 points. Senior Haley Harrell added 11 points and had a team-high seven rebounds. Hunter Stevens had nine points and Kaydon Fosler added seven.

Plymouth (8-2) will travel to Northwood.   Glenn (9-0) will host Laville on Saturday in a girls-boys game to heard on MAX 98.3FM.
