TYLER ROTH/WKVI ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (10/07/17)

Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Jeb Smith, a member of the Football Team at Winamac High School.

Jeb helped lead his team to a big come-from-behind Hoosier North Conference win over Caston.  After being benched for what Coach Craig Barr considered a lackluster performance that had Caston in the lead until the waning seconds of the second quarter, the Junior came back into the game with a vengeance  scoring on a 1-yard plunge with just 14 seconds left in the half to give the Warriors the lead.   The 5-11, 173 pound quarterback scored 3 more touchdowns on runs of 21 and 54 yards and, defensively, came up with a pick-6 that went for 38 yards.  He also scored a 2-point conversion to give him 26 points on the night.

A 3-sport athlete, Jeb is the son of Stephanie and Rory Smith.

Congratulations to Jeb Smith of Winamac High School, our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week.

Jeb will receive a certificate suitable for framing, a history of the Award and a T-shirt commemorating his achievement.

He’ll also be eligible for our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year Award next Spring, which carries with it a beautiful plaque and a college scholarship, compliments of WKVI and the Family of Tyler Roth.
