What an exciting night of High School Basketball in Sectional play:
UPSET of the night goes to Rochester in defeating #2-3A St. Joe Lady Indians 51-47. It was a near perfect performance by the Lady Zebras to get the win. St. Joe was had key players playing with 3-4 fouls in the final minutes including Raster who eventually fouled out of the game in the final 26 seconds. Rochester will host the Regionals and face Benton Central this Saturday.
#6-2A Westview 61 defeated Bremen 60 in 2OT. Bremen led Westview 60-59 with :34 to play in second OT. Huge steal by Micaela Box and basket by Shelby Zellmer gave the Lady Lions the lead. But Bremen could not hold the lead and Westview tied the game at 55 apiece heading into 2OT. In the second OT, Bremen trailed by one point lead going into the final seconds of 2OT, Micaela Box drove the lane for the win, a questionable "no call" occurred, and Westview held on to become Sectional Champions.
North Judson made the long trip to North Newton that proved worth while as the Lady Jays defeated Rensselaer 56-52. North Judson will host the Regionals this Saturday.
Oregon-Davis avenged an earlier season loss to South Central 60-42 in the 1A-Sectional. Lexi Minix scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the 2nd Half. South Central's Popplewell had 14 points, reaching the 1,000 point mark in her young career. Oregon-Davis now sets their sites for FW Blackhawk at the Caston Regionals.
