TYLER ROTH/WKVI ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (08/26/17)

Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Ryan Tompos, a member of the Football Team at Culver High School.

Ryan helped lead his team to a tough 15-0 win over South Central in a game marred by 17 penalties.  Through the difficulties of a game in which both teams sputtered at times, the Sophomore Quarterback and Defensive End kept his cool like a more seasoned veteran.

Offensively, he was 5-for-8 passing for 74 yards and a touchdown, while his rushing statistics were hurt when two long runs, including a 91-yard touchdown, were nullified by penalties.  He kept his cool, though, and booted a 25-yard Field Goal as time ran out in the first half.

In addition to the Field Goal, he also handled kickoffs and punting for the Cavaliers, while defensively he was in on 8 tackles, including a quarterback sack from his defensive end position.

Ryan is also on the Cavalier Wrestling Team.  He’s the son of Cheryl and Richard Tompos.

Congratulations to Ryan Tompos of Culver High School, our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week.

Ryan will receive a certificate suitable for framing, a history of the Award and a T-shirt commemorating his achievement.

He’ll also be eligible for our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year Award next Spring, which carries with it a beautiful plaque and a college scholarship, compliments of WKVI and the Family of Tyler Roth.
