Ancilla Baseball Hosts Meaningful Game with JESSE
DONALDSON, IN – Friday, October 10th was a perfect day for baseball, as it marked the 9th annual Joint Educational Services in Special Education (JESSE) baseball game in conjunction with the Ancilla College baseball team.
During this time, the Charger baseball players helped the JESSE kids from surrounding schools, with every aspect of the game such as: batting, catching, throwing, and running the bases. Most of all, the baseball team assisted in upholding the mission set forth by JESSE. In their mission, it states that the organization provides children with opportunities to develop socially, intellectually, emotionally, and physically.
“Every year we have the same rule and that is for everyone to have a good time,” stated Ancilla baseball head coach Joe Yonto. “It was a great feeling to see the interaction and camaraderie between JESSE and the Chargers. I would also like to express my appreciation to everyone involved for making this another memorable experience,” added Coach Yonto.
Kainin Lewis, Charger captain added, “I had a really great time playing with these kids. I feel it was a good learning experience for me and the rest of the team. Smiles and laughter from the JESSE kids were contagious, which made the game even more enjoyable.”
Ancilla College, part of The Center at Donaldson, offers 18 Associate’s Degree and eight athletic programs. Since 1937, the College has been a sponsored ministry of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and is located two miles south of US 30 on Union Road near Plymouth, Indiana.
