Lady Chargers Pink Out for Prevention
DONALDSON, IN – Ancilla College put on the pink to help fight for the cure in their first ever Ounce of Prevention game.
The Lady Chargers Volleyball team paired up with Jessica Oliver and Jennifer Houin to help spread awareness and raise funds for breast cancer during their October 9th “Ancilla Goes Pink” game with Lansing CC. Through ticket sales, raffle baskets, a serving game and admission donations, the team contributed $1,240.00 for the Ounce of Prevention organization.
Ounce of Prevention is a local organization in Plymouth that coordinates involvement from the community and work toward creating support systems through fundraising and events to increase the overall awareness and prevention of breast cancer. Jennifer Houin and Jessica Oliver co-founded the organization back in 2003 when the terrible disease drastically impacted their own families. Since its formation eleven years ago, Ounce of Prevention has helped raise over $200,000 toward breast cancer awareness.
Head coach Lana Singleton expresses her personal gratitude but also the appreciation of the team for the involvement the community provided. The team plans to involve the gals from The Cottage and Plymouth’s big pink fire truck for some great photos, many laughs and yet another gracious movement to fighting for the cause.
The Lady Chargers will face Cincinnati State Technical and CC at 6:00 PM this Friday October 31st in their opening to the Region XII tournament at Owens CC in Ohio.
