Ancilla Makes First Half Statement in Win
PLYMOUTH, IN – The Ancilla College women’s basketball team posted a defensive showcase in their win over Edison Community College Tuesday night.
Ancilla’s defensive attack highlighted their 55-43 victory last night against the Lady Chargers of Edison Community College. The spark in defensive play from Ancilla limited Edison to only ten points in the first half of action, lending them a 34-10 lead at halftime. Leading the team was a freshman duo of La’Fabian Coleman, posting 14 points, and Alexis Williams, recording 11 points of her own.
Head coach Tom Robbins comments on his team’s second game performance, “I am very proud of our defense in the first half. Holding Edison to only 2 field goals for 20 minutes was top notch. However; we still need to learn how to continue that effort in the 2nd half.” For Robbins, sophomore Taylor Kuhnle’s performance last night left a lasting mark, “She had a remarkable game from a leadership perspective. Her hustle was off the charts as she continually dove after loose balls from tip to final buzzer. Her intensity and focus was relentless and something we want to spread to the whole team.”
The Lady Chargers will remain at home to host Andrews University Thursday November 13th at 5:30 p.m. as part of their doubleheader with the men’s team, whose tip-off will be at 7:30 p.m. against the Cardinals.
