Ancilla Soccer Splits Weekend Games
GRAND HAVEN, MI- The Ancilla men’s soccer team split the postseason weekend with a shutout Saturday against #16 Cincinnati State and an overtime loss Sunday against #9 Schoolcraft.
In semi-final postseason action Saturday November 1st, the Chargers defeated Cincinnati State 3-0 with two goals from freshman Dayle Robertson and a lone goal from freshman Antonio Luna. The victory against Cincinnati State advanced the team to the finals Sunday where they would face #9 Schoolcraft. Needing extra time to achieve their victory, Schoolcraft would go on to win the game 1-0 in the second period of overtime.
Ancilla’s head coach, Adam Hall comments, “We had a great day on Saturday. Sunday was the cruelest way to lose a game. Overall, I am very happy with the year we have had; disappointed that the small margins changed the outcome. We more than matched Schoolcraft and we just couldn’t get the breaks we needed on that day.”
With their postseason win and loss this past weekend, the Chargers complete their 2014 campaign at 16-4-1. With this record, the team records the best overall record the program has achieved since 2007, but also the highest Region XII tournament finish in that seven year span. In just two seasons as head coach, Hall improves his overall record to 26-12-1.
