BB Recap: Plymouth with a strong 2nd quarter beats SB Riley
One thing this years Ryan Bales Coached Pilgrims are learning, effort goes a long way. Plymouth traveled to South Bend to face Riley knowing the game could become a track meet by the end of the contest. In the end, a strong 2nd quarter performance (20-11) set up a 78-58 victory.
Pilgrim middle-man Tyler England set the tone early inside scoring 12 of his 25 points in a 19 point 1st quarter. He later went on to hit three 3’s by the end of 16 minutes, helping his Pilgrims to a halftime lead of 39-34 over the athletic Wildcats.
Plymouth made a key defensive adjustment concerning Riley’s outside game. The Wildcats went 3-7 from outside in the first two quarters, 0-8 in the second half with most of their attempts coming late in the 4th quarter trailing by double-digits by then.
Despite the 18 turnovers, Plymouth was pretty efficient shooting the basketball Tuesday night going 24/55 (53%) from the floor.
Plymouth heads into the Christmas break 5-2 and will participate in the Westview Classic on December 30th.
