Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Riley Popplewell, a member of the Girls Basketball team at South Central High School.

Riley had a spectacular triple-double in leading her team to a win over Class 4-A Portage.

The 6-0 junior scored 23 points, hauled down 16 rebounds and had 10 blocked shots as her team beat the Lady Indians 49-44. She also added 5 steals and 4 assists in an unbelievable performance.

She followed that with a double-double in a 72-32 crushing of River Forest when she scored 26 points, including 10-for-10 free throws, grabbed 15 rebounds and added 8 steals and 2 blocked shots. The back-to-back wins left the Lady Satellites 5-3 on the year and earned them a #12 ranking in Class 1A.

Riley also is a letter-winner in volleyball and softball for the Satellites.

Riley is the daughter of Roger and Shawn Popplewell.
