8-15-15 Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week

Our first Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for the 2015-16 season is Anna Schmeltz, a member of the Girls Golf Team at John Glenn High School. Anna led her team to a 4-1 start in their new Conference and a 6-1 overall record as the Falcons exploded out of the blocks in the first 2 weeks of the new season. She was named to the All-Tourney Team at the Marquette Invitational, where she finished 4th with a 79. She was medalist in 2 of the team’s first 3 matches playing the Number 1 position with a 45 average in the early season.

A Junior, she has led her team to Regional appearances in each of her first 2 seasons. She was medalist in the old Northern State Conference as a Freshman and 2nd last year. In addition to her golf exploits, Anna is a 3-year member of the John Glenn Falcon Pride marching band as a member of the drumline.

Anna is the daughter of Randy and Beth Schmeltz and will be featured next week on the The Saturday Sportsline.
