Ancilla Signs Gonzalez
SCHERERVILLE, IN – Lake Central High School graduate Melia Gonzalez recently signed her National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Letter of Intent to play softball at Ancilla College.
Gonzalez, who plays middle infield and the outfield, has spent the last summer playing for the Indiana Raiders softball club. During her time at Lake Central, she earned two varsity letters in basketball. She is also a P.T. volunteer at St. Margaret Hospital in Dyer.
When asked about her decision to come to Ancilla, Gonzalez replied, “Ancilla is a smaller school. I feel I will prosper not only on the field but academically here.”
“Melia is a vibrant young lady who will bring a lot of excitement to our team,” said Ancilla coach Scott Reese. “She will help to add depth to our middle infield and outfield, as well. I am excited Melia has decided to join the Ancilla softball family.”
Melia is the daughter of Reno and Heather Gonzalez of Schererville and will major in Professional Health Studies while at Ancilla with aspirations of becoming a physical therapist.
