Ancilla Volleyball drops two to Schoolcraft
PLYMOUTH, IN – The Lady Charger volleyball team dropped both matches in a double header Saturday against number 20 ranked Schoolcraft College dropping their record to 8-7.
The match scores for the day were 16-25, 17-25, 21-25 first match and 25-23, 22-25, 21-25, 25-16, 17-19 for the second match. Freshman Samantha Brenneman led the way offensively with 16 kills followed by Sophia Smith’s 15. Jill Brown and Victoria Bush also added 14 and 12 kills respectively. Jackie Friel carried the Chargers in assists with 46 and Xalina Gonzalez was perfect in serve receive going 22 for 22. Natalee Walters led the defense with 40 digs followed by Brown’s 38. Victoria Bush had five block assists and Samantha Albers and Smith added three apiece.
Coach Singleton expressed her disappointment in the teams’ first match efforts, “We looked slow and unmotivated in match one,” she then continued, “match two however, I felt like we played some good volleyball. Our defense looked better and we got more going on offense. The door was open in set five of match two and we did not finish. Hopefully this is a learning experience for this young team.”
The Lady Chargers will be on the road Tuesday to take on Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Game time is set for 6:30p.m. Ancilla will return home on Thursday,
