9-19-15 Athlete of the Week
Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Gabby Behny, a member of the Girls Golf Team at Winamac High School.
Gabby led her team to the Championship of the first-ever Hoosier North Athletic Conference Golf Tournament and was named Conference “Player of the Year” after shooting a 95 in a 2-hole playoff to become the meet Medalist.
The veteran junior, who won the last-ever Midwest Conference Meet as a sophomore, had to sink two dramatic puts to win it, sinking a 15-foot shot to send it to the second extra hole, then a 10-footer to win it on the 20th hole.
It was an emotional win for Gabby just days after her brother, Army Staff Sergeant Andrew Budd, lost his life while serving his country. She wore his dogtags in his memory in her march to the championship.
Gabby is the daughter of Leanne and John Behny.
