ANCILLA ANNOUNCES NEW SOFTBALL COACH
DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla College Athletic Department has named Jane Zimmerman the new Head Coach Softball Coach.
Zimmerman comes to Ancilla from Farmington Hills Harrison High School where she served as the Head Softball Coach for two years. Prior to coaching at Farmington Hills, she was the Head Softball Coach at Rochester College in Rochester, MI from 2011-2012.
In her coaching career, she has also been a Volunteer Assistant Softball Coach at the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, MI, where she worked with infield, catchers and hitters. She was in charge of team academics, fundraising, and community service projects. She was also responsible for travel itineraries and making all of the teams travel arrangements. Zimmerman has also served as the Interim Head Softball Coach at Oakland University in 2010.
She has been highly involved in the Petoskey Softball Association in Petoskey, MI, where she has been in the roles of player, manager, and coach from 1988-2008. In 1988, while playing for the Petoskey Softball Association, she received the Rookie of the Year award.
Zimmerman attended Northwood (Institute) University where she played third base and catcher from 1986-1989. In her high school career, she attended Hillsdale High School where she played softball for four years. She was named MVP her sophomore, junior and senior year. She was also a member of the Hillsdale High School volleyball team for three years where she was awarded MVP her senior year.
“We are happy to welcome Jane to the Charger Family,” commented Gene Reese, Ancilla College Athletic Director. “Jane brings with her several years of playing and coaching experience at various different levels, that will help her be successful in her new position.”
Jane is married to husband Doug Zimmerman and has a daughter, Samantha Padilla who is in the Air Force and stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. Along with being the Head Softball Coach, Zimmerman will also take on the responsibilities as the Associate Athletic Director.
