ANCILLA ANNOUNCES NEW VOLLEYBALL COACH
DONALDSON, IN – Ancilla College Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Jordan Weitzell as the new head volleyball coach.
Weitzell, originally from State Center, IA graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Science from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, IA. During her time at Cornell College, she was a member of the Cornell College collegiate volleyball team. The team, qualified for the NCAA tournament three years in a row during her playing career as a defensive specialist.
During college, she coached a traveling club volleyball team for three years. She was the coach of a 14s team out of Solon, IA in 2012, a 16s team in 2013, and a 17s team in 2014. She has also been as skills instructor for volleyball camps at Austin Juniors Volleyball Club in 2012 and 2013. At AJV she instructed volleyball players of all ages through fundamental skills and team drills. Weitzell also had the opportunity to be a skills instructor for a camp that Olympic Gold Medalist Misty May-Treanor hosted at AJV in July 2013.
Weitzell graduated from Cornell College in May of 2014 and began graduate school at Manchester University in North Manchester, IN in July of 2014. She graduated from Manchester University in May of 2016 with her Master’s Degree in Athletic Training.
“We are pleased to have someone of Jordan’s quality and experience to take over our volleyball program,” commented Ancilla College Athletic Director Gene Reese. “Jordan not only has collegiate playing experience, but coaching experience at several different levels as well. We are excited to see the impact she will have on the continued success of our volleyball program following its record breaking year this past season.”
Weitzell is also a full-time Athletic Trainer for the Ancilla College Athletic Department.
