Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week 10-12-19
Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Payton Baugh, a member of the football team at Knox Community High School.
Payton helped his team bounce back from a loss to 2-time defending State Champion Pioneer, with a 28-6 Hoosier North Athletic Conference win over Triton. After Senior Martin Napierkowski went out with an injury, the 5-10 180lb fullback became the go-to man, and rushed the ball 16 times for 111 yards, scoring three touchdowns on runs of six, six, and seven yards, while adding a two-point conversion. Baugh is described by Coach John Hendryx as “a non-flashy player, who always puts the needs of the team first”.
Payton is the son of Kelly and Jed Baugh.
Congratulations to Payton Baugh of Knox Community High School, our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week!
Payton will receive a certificate suitable for framing, a history of the Award, and a t-shirt commemorating his achievement, and will be a future guest on the Saturday Sportsline. He will also be eligible for our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year Award next Spring, which carries with it a beautiful plaque and a college scholarship, compliments of WKVI and the family of Tyler Roth.
