Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete(s) of the Week 12-7-19
Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Co-Athletes of the Week for this week are Remi Jordan, a member of the Girls Basketball Team at Knox High School, and Mercedes Rhodes, a member of the Girls Basketball Team at Oregon-Davis High School.
Remi helped lead her team to a big win over arch-rival, and second ranked North Judson-San Pierre, with great statistics on both ends of the court. The 6’0 Junior scored 13 points, hauled down 9 rebounds, and came up with an amazing 7 blocked shots as Knox defeated the Jays 53-41. She followed that with a double-double in the Lady Redskins win over Kankakee Valley, scoring 14 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and coming up with 8 more blocked shots in a 50-45 win.
Mercedes became the 13th 1,000 point scorer in the history of Lady Bobcat Basketball, as she poured in 34 points in a 74-27 win over Marquette Catholic. The 5’8 Junior hit 6-of-12 three-point shots, was 7-8 on two-point attempts, and also contributed 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. She followed that with 30 points the next night against West Central.
Mercedes is the daughter of Jeff and Margarita Rhodes and the Granddaughter of Dennis Burkett of Culver.
Remi is the daughter of Josh and Shanna Jordan, and is also a member of the National Honor Society, track, and cross country teams for the Redskins.
