Satellites Get Perfect Reception For Another Win!
The Lady Satellites of South Central entered Hebron focused and determined to keep their winning streak going, as they had won their previous three games against Boone Grove, Mishawaka, and Western respectively. In true team fashion, the Lady Satellites moved their winning streak to four.
Any coach in the sport of basketball loves to see a balanced attack when it comes to the offensive end of the floor, and that is exactly what Head Coach Wes Bucher saw from his squad from Union Mills. The Lady Satellites would end up having sevens girls score at least two points in the winning effort, with three individuals reaching double digits. Freshman Olivia Marks would lead the way in the scoring category, putting up 19 points in the win. The other double digit efforts would come from veterans Abbie Tomblin and Amber Wolf, who both put up 16. As a team, the Lady Satellites had a very good evening at the free-throw line, as they collectively shot 91% for the game, collectively hitting 11-12.
Defense would be the name of the game for South Central throughout the evening, as the Lady Satellites combined for an astonishing 25 steals in the ballgame. Tomblin would lead the way for S.C., as she was able to grab 8 steals throughout the game, while Delanie Gale, as well as Lexy Wade, would each pull away 4 of their own. From a rebounding standpoint, the Lady Satellites would hold the edge as well, out rebounding Hebron 33-21, with Marks leading the way, pulling down 9 rebounds.
The near double-double of Olivia Marks would earn her the Ashley Derrickson/Five Star Player of the Game on WKVI, ending the game with team highs in points and rebounds, with 19 and 9 respectively, to go along with two steals.
The Lady Satellites improve to 12-5 on the year, and 4-1 in the Porter County Conference. South Central will have a major test next week, as they will welcome the powerful 3A Knox Lady Redskins to their home floor on January 14th, in a game that will be broadcasted on K99.3, WKVI!
