Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week 2-27-2021

Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Devan Himes, a member fo the Boys swim Team at Knox Community High School.

Devan advanced to the State diving competition after placing second in the Sectional and eighth in the Regional, becoming the first Redskin to advance to State in more than twenty years. He scored 412.7 in his Sectional performance by executing a forward one-and-a-half somersault and an inward one-and-a-half somersault tuck. He qualified at the Regional with 391.7, using an inward dive in the pike position and a back somersault, two-and-a-half twist in free position. Devan also helped lead his team to the Hoosier North Athletic Conference Championship. He is also a member of the band program at Knox.

Devan is the son of Susan Himes and Alfred Himes, as well as the stepson of Nichol Chaja.

Devan will receive a certificate suitable for framing, a history of the award, and a t-shirt commemorating his achievement. In addition, he will be a future guest on the Saturday Sportsline. He will also be eligible for our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year award next Spring which carries with it a beautiful plaque and a college scholarship, compliments of WKVI and the family of Tyler Roth.
