Kokomo Post 6 edges Spyders in Smith Classic
PLYMOUTH – Kokomo’s Post 6 had just enough to edge Plymouth Post 27 in American Legion action in the Bill Smith Classic on Sunday.
Both teams were strong on the bump but Kokomo Post 6 Jr. was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-2 victory over Plymouth Post 27 Junior Spyders.
Jonas McCuen was the Plymouth starter and went four giving up just one run.
Kokomo opened the scoring in the first after Andrew Barker grounded out, scoring one run.
Barker earned the win for Kokomo surrendering four hits and two runs over six and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking four. Caleb Bowling pitched four innings in relief for Plymouth Post 27. The righty gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out two and walking two. McCuen took the loss for Post 27.
Malachi Sieh, McCuen, Trey Delp, and Tommy Kelley each collected one hit for Plymouth Post 27 Junior Spyders. Preston Wolfe and Bowling each drove in one run for Plymouth Post 27 Junior Spyders. Kaden Milliser stole two bases.
