IHSAA unveils new sectional alignments for 6 sports
For the next two academic years, Plymouth High School will move down a classification in basketball and play in Class 3A instead of 4A where it has been.
That’s certainly newsworthy, but it definitely won’t mean an easier path to a sectional crown for the Pilgrims.
Plymouth boys basketball will now have to navigate through Culver Academies, John Glenn, Marian, St. Joe, New Prairie and South Bend Washington in its sectional.
The change comes as a result of the IHSAA Executive Committee approval today for new sectional assignments in six team sports for the next two school years.
The Executive Committee unanimously accepted the recommendations of the respective realignment committees which determined the sectional groups in meetings earlier this month for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years.
The baseball and softball sectional realignment committee will meet later this summer and their recommendations will be presented to the Executive Committee for approval at its August 27 meeting.
Host sites for the next two years will be determined by athletic administrators in each sectional this summer.
