Bremen’s Coffel selected No. 11 in Athletes Unlimited Softball Draft
On Tuesday night Bremen High School and current Kentucky standout Erin Coffel was one of 15 top NCAA softball graduates to be taken in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball College Draft.
Coffel, who was selected with the 11th pick, and 14 others will continue their softball careers in the league’s upcoming July season following the NCAA Tournament.
Coffel is putting the finishing touches on a remarkable career at UK.
The 2023 second-team All-American shortstop took over the No. 1 spot in the Wildcats’ career record books for RBI (212) and home runs (68).
She leads the team with a .336 batting average, 45 hits, 12 doubles, and 13 home runs. Her on-base percentage (.541) ranks seventh in DI softball right now.
Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball is a women’s professional softball league in the United States, founded in 2020.
There are no team owners and league investors are capping their returns. Athletes share in the league profits and are involved in the daily decision making.
AU players are not committed to one team, but switch teams every week of the season through a draft. The top four players who earn the most points each week become captains for the next week and form new teams. Players earn points based on their team and individual performances and are ranked accordingly. The champion is the player who has the most points at the end of the season.
