Argos new AD is familiar Dragon

Argos High School has turned to legendary soccer player Damon Binkley to lead its athletic department.

Binkley left Argos High School as its all-time leading scorer on the pitch, netting 130 goals in his four years, and continued playing at Grace College.

He graduated from Grace in 2019 and is now a science teacher at AHS.

The 27-year-old Argos athletic director takes over for Jason Breden, who was both the Dragons athletic director and boys basketball head coach. Breden departed Argos to become the boys basketball coach at Knox.

Binkley was an NCCAA All-American at Grace and helped the Lancers to the Crossroads League Tournament championship, its first since 1982, during his junior season.

In high school, Binkley earned third-team All-State honors as a senior after scoring 37 goals to go along with 15 assists. He was the Northern Indiana Soccer Conference Player of the Year his last three seasons.

During Binkley’s prep career, the Dragons accumulated a 68-17-2 record, and four straight sectional and regional championships.
