Manageable ’24 schedule awaits NFL Bears
Believe it or not, we are just over seven weeks away from the start of the NFL Preseason.
It seems like just yesterday the NFL Draft was taking place doesn’t it?
Well since Caleb Williams was selected as the top pick by the Chicago Bears, NFL teams have had Rookie Camp, OTAs and for some even mandatory minicamp.
Now, the countdown is on for the start of next month’s Training Camp.
And before you know it, the first preseason game will be upon us.
Lucky for Bears fan, they won’t have to wait long before seeing their team in the preseason as Chicago kicks things off against the Houston Texans at 8 p.m. Aug. 1 in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.
All of the Bears’ preseason games will be on national television, including the aforementioned opener, which ESPN/ABC will broadcast.
The Bears’ final three preseason games will all be televised by NFL Network –
Aug. 10 at Buffalo 1 p.m. ET
Aug. 17 Cincinnati 1 p.m.
Aug. 22 at Kansas City 8:15 p.m.
Quarterback Caleb Williams and his Bears kick off the regular season at 1 p.m. ET Sept. 8 versus Tennessee on FOX in Soldier Field.
Many pundits are calling the Bears’ slate “advantageous.”
The 17 regular-season games feature five national stand-alone games, three primetime contests, a game in London and a Thanksgiving matchup at defending NFC North champion Detroit.
Of local interest will be when Chicago (looking to improve on a 7-10 record last season) visits Lucas Oil Stadium to battle the Colts in Week 3. The game against Indianapolis is one of the Bears’ first nine that are all against non-division foes.
Eleven of the Bears’ 17 games are subject to flexible scheduling. The games that are locked in are those in the first four weeks, and the London and Thanksgiving games.

Speaking of the Colts (who went 9-8 last season), Indy will play eight regular-season home games, including a huge Sept. 8 season-opening tilt against C.J. Stroud and the defending AFC South champion Houston Texans.
Indianapolis, which is led by receiver Michael Pittman Jr., offensive guard Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, is scheduled for one primetime game – a Sunday night affair with the New York Jets on the road in Week 11.

The Lions (12-5 a year ago), led by edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, will embark on the league’s 11th-toughest schedule. They have nine nationally-televised games, including at least one on each broadcast network, and five primetime games.

For the 11th straight year the Green Bay Packers (9-8 during the ’23 season) will be featured five times in primetime (subject to flexible scheduling). Of the 14 opponents on the schedule (17 regular-season games total), 10 teams finished with a record above .500 last season.
One very interesting thing about the Packers’ ’24 schedules is they open the season in Sao Paulo, Brazil, marking the sixth consecutive year that Green Bay has started the season on the road.
The Packers’ home opener comes in Week 2 against the Colts.
Like Chicago and Detroit, Green Bay will be playing on Thanksgiving, too, when they host Miami that evening.
Green Bay, led by quarterback Jordan Love, has nine regular-season home games.
