MAX’s ’24 HS football broadcast schedule unveiled

Can you believe it? Ten weeks from tomorrow is Opening Night for Indiana high school football and Kankakee Valley Broadcasting’s MAX 98.3 FM WYMR will be there every step of the way to bring you all the exciting gridiron action LIVE on our Game of the Week!

During the nine-week regular season of IHSAA football, MAX will bring you a total of 10 contests that will be featured as MAX’s Game of the Week.

MAX will have three LaVille and Bremen games and two Triton, Plymouth, Culver Academy, John Glenn, as well as a pair of Knox tilts.

Per usual, it’s a jam-packed high school football season on MAX.

Award-winning broadcaster Tony Ross will handle the play-by-play. Tony will be joined in the booth by color commentators Doug Griffiths, Marc Hayden and Scott Masters (who also helps with production).

MAX will start its coverage with LaVille at Triton – two teams that combined to got 19-6 a year ago as the Lancers returns 1,500-yard rusher Cody Allen. This coaching matchup of Zach Whittaker and Jeff Kaiser, both in their second year at their respective schools should be a really good one and a great way to kick off the season.

The following week we will have Bremen’s home opener against Triton. The Lions went 6-6 a year ago and are looking to really roar in Jordan Leeper’s ninth season in B-Town as he’s got a lot of weapons back, including QB Silas Laidig and receiver Tyrus Graverson (one of the state’s most productive players at his position in ’23 with 1,300-plus receiving yards and 10 TD catches).

Week #3 takes us to the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee to see Culver Academy host mighty Knox. The Eagles finished a disappointing 5-7 a year ago, but advanced to the sectional championship before falling to New Prairie. You know CMA coach Andy Dorrel, now in his 27th year guiding the Eagles, would like nothing better than to knock off the Redskins, who feature junior running back Myles Mclaughlin, who had a phenomenal sophomore season (2,584 yards rushing with 35 TDs on the ground). Knox coach Russ Radtke is back for his 47th season of HS football (a record of 404-154) and is looking for more after leading his squad to a semi-state appearance in ’23.

Then we will return to Bremen as the Lions entertain rival LaVille in a newly formed Northern State Conference clash.

Week #5 gives us our first look of the season at the Glenn Falcons, coached by Ron Brown, who takes over for John Barron. The Falcons went 7-5 a year ago and lost a lot of key personnel so winning at Knox will be a tough task.

In Week #6 we will bring you a doubleheader – one game on Thursday and another one under the Friday night lights. On Thursday Kankakee Valley will visit CMA and the next night Plymouth will travel to Warsaw for a big Northern Lakes Conference showdown.

The following week takes us to LaVille as the Lancers entertain Glenn and Week #8 features Knox traveling to Bremen.

We finish the regular season with Plymouth hosting Concord.

Starting Oct. 25 we will bring you the postseason as Sectional play gets underway.
