Knox’s McLaughlin garnering statewide attention

As a sophomore in 2023, Knox high school running back Myles McLaughlin burst onto the scene and quickly became not only one of northern Indiana’s most prolific backs, but had one of the most productive seasons of any player statewide.

Now, the 5-10, 190-pound bulldozing junior runner is anything but a secret.

Earlier this week at Indiana High School Football Media Day in Indianapolis, McLaughlin was named 2024 Top 22 All-State Underclassman by Indiana Preps Football.

Last season was nothing short of incredible for McLaughlin and his Knox Redskins.

He rushed for an astonishing 2,584 yards, averaging nearly 10 yards per carry, and scored an eye-popping 35 touchdowns en route to becoming Knox’s all-time scoring leader and career rushing leader.

McLaughlin was a big reason Knox had a remarkable season.

The Redskins went 13-1, winning sectional and regional titles, upsetting perennial power West Lafayette 41-23 along the way before falling to Chatard in semi-state.

In that victory over West Lafayette, McLaughlin continued his record-setting season by scoring five touchdowns.

Without question McLaughlin will have a bullseye on his back this fall, but will gladly embrace it.

And not only are there lofty expectations for No. 2, but if you believe Indiana High School Football Fans Facebook page, his Knox Redskins will defeat Heritage Hills to win the Class 3A State Championship this season.

No pressure, right?

Knox will begin its quest to play in Lucas Oil Stadium and the state championship game four weeks from tonight when it kicks off the ’24 season Aug. 23 at North Judson.
