Notre Dame #7 in preseason poll, 6 Big Ten teams ranked
College football is upon us.
Ealier today The Associated Press released its preseason top 25 poll, which had Notre Dame ranked No. 7.
It is the highest preseason ranking for the Irish since 2022 when they were fifth.
The Irish will face three ranked teams, beginning with the season opener Aug. 31 under the lights at No. 20 Texas A&M. No. 10 Florida State and No. 23 USC are also on ND’s slate.
Last season Notre Dame went 10-3, losing to Ohio State, Louisville and Clemson. The Irish beat Oregon State in the Sun Bowl to conclude the season.
The Big Ten has six teams ranked in the AP preseason poll, led by Ohio State at No. 2, followed by Oregon at No. 3, Penn State at No. 8, defending national champion Michigan at No. 9, USC at 23 and Iowa at 25.
College football kicks off with a limited schedule on Saturday Aug. 24 with a full slate of games the following week Aug. 31.
Remember this season there will be a 12-team playoff as opposed to a 4-team playoff, which was the case in the past.
So for fun, the 12-team bracket would look like as follows using the Associated Press’ preseason rankings that came out earlier today.
Also included is the College Football Playoff Schedule, the Bowl Schedule & how the new Power 5 looks like.
Enjoy!
IMPORTANT NOTE: All First Round Playoff games will be played at campus sites of the higher-seeded team. Also, Notre Dame can not be any higher than a No. 5 seed in the College Football Playoffs.
