Rockies stay on a role

ELKHART — Coming off a pair of victories in their Blueberry Tournament the Plymouth boys soccer team hit the road for a win at Elkhart Christian by a 7-2 final.

Levi Hutchinson and Uriel Rebollo each had a pair of goals for Plymouth.

“It was a rocky start at the beginning and most of the second half but we were able to recuperate in the second half and get the game under our control,” said Plymouth coach Jesus Jimenez-Garcia. “Two goals each for our seniors Levi and Uriel as well a goal from our sophomore Farid Romero which I love to see our underclassmen get involved. We’ll take this momentum and ride to it against a very hard and #9 ranked Goshen.”

Plymouth now 5-2 will head to Goshen for a 6 p.m. JV start on Thursday.

Bremen slips past West Noble

BREMEN — On a beautiful Tuesday evening at the Bremen Soccer Complex, the Lions welcomed the Chargers of West Noble for a game that has created much intensity in the previous matchups. The Lions were able to come away with a 2-1 win.

With their first home game being suspended at half time due to heat conditions, the boys were excited to play in front of their home crowd and defend their home field. The first half was back and forth until a Lions mistake led to the Chargers scoring with only 47 seconds left in the first half.

The second half was as intense as the first half with back and forth pressure and goal scoring opportunities. The Lions missed on a few close chances, but as the defense held strong, the team found their first goal as senior captain Carter Filson put home a volley in the 56th minute. Less than 10 minutes later, sophomores Nate Schnaible and J.J. Cencelewski connected for a goal that would prove the game winner.
