ELKHART — Plymouth’s gymnastics team finished in the top three at the Elkhart Holiday Invitational on Saturday.

Plymouth – 97.65
Westville – 92.55

Arielle Ferman led Plymouth with a fourth-place finish on the floor exercise and seventh in the vault. Jersey Hunter had a fifth on the bars and an eighth in the floor exercise. Lila Hanyzewski finished eighth on the beam and seventh in the all-around. Susie Everett had eighth in the vault and Jenna Blake ninth on the bars.
“After a rough start on the beam, we bounced back well to put a strong floor score out there to keep us in the meet,” said Plymouth coach Amanda Bender. “A third-place finish was our target today and we were able to hit that. It’s always great to get an early look at some key postseason opponents in Elkhart and Angola who we will continue to see numerous times throughout the year. This meet gives us a good opportunity to evaluate where we are at and what goals we need to focus on as we get into the meat of the season.”
Plymouth will be in action again on Jan. 11 at the Valparaiso Pairs competition.
