Chargers upended by Henry Ford

PLYMOUTH — The Marian University Ancilla Men’s Basketball team has entered one of the tougher portions of their season, seemingly playing a nationally ranked team each of the last few games. Tuesday night, it was the 20th-ranked Hawks of Henry Ford College who came out on top 90-62.
The Chargers found it tough to score, posting a season-low 62 points. They were just 24-82 from the field and 9-40 from 3-point range, plus they only made it to the free throw line 6 total times. Marian Ancilla did pull down 46 rebounds, including 13 offensive, but it just wasn’t enough to overcome the unfriendly rims.
Sophomore forward Jayden Sanders led the Chargers in scoring (15 points) and rebounding (10 rebounds), posting a double-double on the evening. He contributed 2 assists and blocked 2 shots as well in defeat. Freshmen guards Kenneth Grant (11 points) and Jordan Woods (10 points) also reached double figures in scoring, while Woods added 9 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Men’s Basketball team begins MCCAA conference play this Saturday when they host Southwestern Michigan. This is part of a doubleheader with the Women’s Basketball team, so tip time is set for approximately 3 p.m. for the Men.
You can hear this game as part of a Marian-Ancilla men’s/women’s doubleheader on MAX 98.3.
