IHSAA football state tournament pairings announced

INDIANAPOLIS — The 53rd Annual IHSAA Football State Tournament presented by the Indianapolis Colts is set to begin Oct. 24 with sectional first-round games.
Semifinal games will be played on October 31, sectional championship games on November 7, regional games on November 14, semi-state games on November 21, and the state championship games on November 28-29. The 12 teams earning a berth in the state finals will play on Thanksgiving weekend in Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts, the state tournament’s presenting sponsors since 2009.

Determining Home Team
First Round: The second-named team in the blind draw is the host school unless the two teams agree to switch the site.
Semifinals: The team without a home game will host. Exception: The bye team will always be the
visitor. If both teams were hosts or both were visitors, the second-named team in the quarter
bracket will host.
In 6A and 5A, in the four-team sectionals, the second-named team will host.
Championships: The Host team will be the team that has played the most away games. If both teams
have played the same number of away games, the bottom bracket team shall host.
