A thought from “The Boss”!
Hello everyone. I’m Tony Ross. General Sales Manager/Sports Director of MAX 98.3FM, Sportstothemax.net and WKVI 99.3FM. I don’t normally write “editorials” because it lends itself to criticism from others who simply cannot communicate in a respectful fashion. But in this case, I will take the hit.
I was truly moved by a video I had seen on Facebook. It was an event put on by a local program who has developed hundreds of amazing and successful student-athletes, graduates and alumni who to this day carry loyalty to Plymouth. It’s a program that has required time, patience, support, teaching, and yes….even parenting to some kids every year. I am referring to the Plymouth Rockie Football Program.
Before I go further, let me add, I’m going to be a little biased in writing this simply because I’ve spent a quarter of my life with generations of kids and a great coaching staff & Administration associated with this football program. Now…that aside. If you have not seen the recent video of the Rockie players, managers and staff getting together as ONE….holding hands in a circle as brother and sisters, but MOST IMPORTANTLY, showing their faith in God by THANKING HIM for all his has done for them. Then you need to see it!!!!
In a day where “all” we are exposed to on television is killing, dysfunctional government, and psychotic behavior by individuals….finally some “peace” comes from a video recording of our young kids thanking and praying to God for guidance in their lives. Now to be fair. I have seen MANY youth groups do the same thing and…..Thank God for them! But this event comes from a program that has seen it’s fair share of criticism over the many years. You see, this event on the video is not necessarily new, but something done differently that shows our kids how BIG of a role “FAITH” plays in our lives. How when you give it to God, everything will happen the way it’s meant to be. Not to take for granted what God has given you. It’s a simple message delivered every year….that finally got recorded on video.
Personally, I found more in this video than I intended too. I guess it was the way the kids looked as if they belonged there, at that moment, at that specific location….for a reason. It simply looked like it meant something to them.
So Thanks JB. Thank you Coaches. Thank you Administration. Most importantly, Thank You kids for being brave enough to show your faith to millions on Social Media. Thanks for letting me serve witness to your faith, to help strengthen mine!
This video was an inspiration to me as you can tell. It has made me want to represent our children even more in this job I do. The good news is, you’ll be seeing more of me very soon! I have posted this video on our SPORTSTOTHEMAX.NET website for your viewing as well. The volume isn’t the greatest, but you can hear enough to know what being a “Rockie” is all about.
