Triton runners sweep Caston
BOURBON — The Triton Lady Trojans turned in a dominant all-around performance Tuesday evening,
defeating Caston 73-40 in the girls track dual. The Triton Boys, not to be outdone by the girls, came away with a 65-58 victory over Caston in the boys track dual Tuesday evening at Caston, getting contributions across the sprints, hurdles, relays, and field events to secure the win.
The Lady Trojans used their depth on the track, in the relays, and in the field events to steadily build separation and control the meet from start to finish. Triton got wins from Kiyliyen Fear in the 100-meter dash, Evelyn Gephart in the 800, Rilee Bemish in the 100 hurdles, Addison Albright in the 300 hurdles, and Avery Viers in three field events. Viers led the way with first-place finishes in the high jump, discus, and shot put, while Triton also swept all three relays to pile up points.
The Trojan boys set the tone with a strong showing in the short races.
Tyler Painton won the 100-meter dash in 11.87 seconds, Cayden Bradley took first in the 200 in 24.79, Jackson Faulkner captured the 400 in 56.04, and Grant Williams added another Triton victory in the 800 with a time of 2:27.58.
Several Boys hit PR’s right out of the gate at this season opener. Triton’s versatility ultimately made the difference. Vinny Prater won the 110 hurdles in 17.45 and later added a discus title with a throw of 116 feet, 10 inches. Cameron Callahan also turned in a standout performance, winning the high jump at 6-0 and the long jump at 18-5. Triton added another first-place finish in the 4×100 relay.
