Ancilla Soccer Splits Weekend Games
DONALDSON, IN & LIVONIA, MI – The Charger soccer team easily defeated Jackson College at home by a score of 6-1, yet remained scoreless on the road against Schoolcraft College and lost 1-0. This brings Ancilla’s Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) record to 6-2 and 14-3 overall.
On Saturday, the Chargers took and maintained a commanding lead against the Jets of Jackson College. Dayle Robertson earned a hat trick, while Abel Zamarippa, Nestor Herrera, and Francisco Carbajal each contributed a goal for Ancilla.
It was a short lived victory, as the Chargers traveled on Sunday to take on MCCAA rival, Schoolcraft College. In their second matchup of the season, the Ocelots managed to score the only goal of the game and were victorious over Ancilla.
Coach Hall commented, “We played very well on Saturday and produced many scoring opportunities. Sunday we had ten shots on target versus Schoolcraft’s four, but couldn’t get the break we needed. In the end, the results are what matter. It is disappointing to not get the job done, but we can be positive about going into the playoffs.”
Morton College will host the Chargers on Friday, October 17 at 5:00 p.m., as Ancilla looks to bounce back with a win.
