CMA advances to 2nd round in nailbiter vs Tippy Valley
The CMA Eagles were looking to get into the first round of the High School Football Sectionals for the first time in three years facing a struggling Tippy Valley Vikings squad at Oliver Field. Behind two touchdown catches by Eagle receiver, Wheaton Jackoboice, CMA won a close one 27-26 over the Vikes.
CMA took the lead on a 59-yard hook-and-ladder play with Wheaton Jackoboice catching an 8-yd. pass from Jesse Brownfield, then pitching the ball to David Pumarejo, who went 51 yards down the Culver sideline for the score.
The CMA defense stopped Alec Craig on the 2-pt conversion run with 0:29 left to preserve the one-pt. victory.
Tippy Valley’s Garrett Bell had 27 carries for 143 yards.
CMA – Rune Kirby had 9 carries for 59 yards and David Pumarejo with 2 carries for 56 yards.
CMA will host Peru Friday night at Oliver Field.
