Boys B-ball: Hard fought win for Plymouth over Triton
Plymouth Coach Ryan Bales made it pretty clear that defense was going to make a difference. In the final minutes, Plymouth’s defense held a potent Triton offense for a 51-45 win.
Plymouth started the game on a 10-0 before Triton boss Jason Groves called a timeout. After that little meeting, Triton slowly climbed their way back into the contest with a couple of runs to eventually trail by a 28-25 score at halftime. And at one point in the second quarter, the 19 points scored gave Triton a brief lead.
Second half adjustments were made by both teams where no lead reached double digits. Triton’s Austin Sellers (8/10 fg) had the hot hand in the second half for the Trojans scoring 10 of his 16 total points, mostly by dribble penetration. He scored 6 points in the 4th quarter alone to help his Trojans stay close.
Plymouth got some key free throws in the 4th quarter from Cam Eveland and Nick Felke going a combined 7 for 8 from the line to help maintain the Plymouth lead. Tyler England scored 4 of his 8 points in the final minute preserve the win.
Plymouth improves to 2-0 on the season. They will embark on a three game road trip starting at Rochester Friday night.
Triton will travel to Northwood to finish their opening 3 game road trip on Friday.
