Former Plymouth star lands a coaching job in Rensselaer
RENSSELAER, Ind. – Kyle Benge was named the assistant coach for Saint Joseph’s College Men’s Basketball program in May of 2016. Benge spent the 2015-2016 season as the assistant coach at Graceland University, an NAIA Division 1 school, in Lamoni, IA.
Benge was an integral part of the coaching staff that took the Yellowjackets to a 17-15 record during the 2015-2016 season, which was an 11 game improvement from the previous season. During his time at Graceland University Benge also helped guide the Yellowjackets to their second wining season in the past 21 years. The team was also able to advance to the Heart of America Conference semifinals and finished the season with six wins over Top-25 opponents.
Prior to coming to Graceland University, Benge was an assistant coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College, an NCAA Division II school, in Owensboro, Kentucky. During his time at Kentucky Wesleyan College, Benge helped the Panthers achieve a 22-8 record.
From 2011-2014 he served as varsity assistant coach at his alma mater, Plymouth High School, in Plymouth, Indiana. He helped the program achieve a three-year record of 48-21, highlighted by winning the 3A Sectional Championship in 2013.
