Plymouth’s Clay Hillard earns honor
Congratulations to Plymouth High School senior Clay Hilliard for receiving the Kent Benson Fellowship of Christian Athletes Mental Attitude award at the Indiana Class Basketball All-Star Classic game that recently took place on the campus of Anderson University.
Hilliard was one of eight (three boys and five girls) honored to receive a Fellowship of Christian Athletes attitude award. In all a total of 140 players from across the Hoosier state took part in the two-day event at Anderson University’s Kardatzke Wellness Center.
Kent Benson of New Castle is a former Indiana University basketball standout who played on the 1976 NCAA National Championship team. Benson went on to play 11 seasons in the NBA for four different teams. He founded the All-Star Classic to provide players with collegiate exposure. This year marked the 10th year for the All-Star Classic.
Basketball players from across the Hoosier state are invited by invitation only to be part of the Indiana Class Basketball All-Star Classic roster. This year Hilliard was picked to play on the white team in the junior game. The white team ended up winning the game over the red team with a score of 125-94. Hilliard scored 8 points, pulling down 8 rebounds, and he also had 6 assists.
