Ancilla students honored
Ancilla College students were honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association for their work in the classroom this past year. Twenty-three individual students were honored along with the entire women’s bowling team.
Coach Al Franklin’s women’s bowling team post a combined 3.37 GPA to top all other women’s bowling teams. They also finished second in the nation at the NJCAA National Tournament in March. The majority of the team were freshmen and will return this fall.
Individual awards were based on the following grade point averages: First Team-4.0 GPA, Second Team-3.8-3.99 GPA, and Third Team-3.60-3.79 GPA.
Ancilla had three individuals earn NJCAA All-Academic Team honors: Camryn Kopka (Winamac, softball and bowling), Brooklyn Schutz (Elkhart, bowling), and CoriAnn Rhodes (Portage, golf).
Second Team honorees were: Amanda Heckaman (Nappanee, soccer), Brooklyn Mason (Argos, soccer), Corgan Shephard ( Kokomo, bowling), Eleanor Boothman (Peterborough, England, soccer and softball), Julianna Phelps (Wheatfield, bowling), Karson Williams (Kingsbury, basketball), Mackenzie Laskey (York, SC, bowling), and Samantha Nickerson (LaPorte, softball).
Third Team designee were: Angelique McKeny (Hebron, bowling), Antoinette Dashner (South Bend, volleyball), Britney Hoffman (DeMotte, volleyball), Brynda Krueger (Mentone, basketball), Chloe Kane (Morecambe, England, soccer and softball), Dominique Palmer (Canjonleigh, Australia, soccer), Edgar Villa (Chicago, IL, soccer), Francisco Ocampo (Elkhart, soccer), Hanna Hough (Mishawaka, golf); Megan LaFontaine (Fort Wayne, golf), Shelbie Fecher (Noblesville, bowling), Trisha Moser (Bremen, volleyball).
