Oregon-Davis Hires New Boys Basketball Coach
Oregon-Davis High School officially named former Knox assistant coach Larry Sennert as their new Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach. Sennert has spent his career at Knox, where he coached every level from 5th grade through Junior Varsity.
“We’ve got nothing, but upside here” Sennert said. “There’s not much downside, I really think we can improve every night at practice and every game.”
After spending his entire coaching career in the Knox Community Schools, it was the voices in and around the Knox program that encouraged Sennert to go after the job at OD.
“After being at Knox, I’ve got so many friends over there, this just came open and I received a few calls” Sennert said. “They showed a lot of interest and I thought it’s a chance of a lifetime. I’ve coached almost every grade from fifth grade on up, it’s just a perfect opportunity”.
It is an exciting time for Oregon-Davis boys basketball as the Bobcats return nearly their entire roster from a year ago, including their two leading scorers Garrett Weil and Dylan Murphy. Discipline and fundamentals will be the basis of the Sennert era at Oregon-Davis. Surrounded by family and Bobcat fans, Sennert was all smiles after officially being given the job by the Oregon-Davis School Board. One thing is for certain, the Bobcats are ready to get back to a championship level in boys basketball, and that was proven last night with the hiring of Larry Sennert.
