Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week 9-14-19
Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Abby Machnic, a member of the Girls Golf Team at John Glenn High School!
Abby helped her team set a new school record for 9 holes in a Northern Indiana Conference win over South Bend Washington. The veteran Senior shot a 41, just one stroke behind teammate Megan Kobelt, who earned our Athlete of the Week designation earlier in the year, as the Falcons beat the Panthers 178-259. The 178 topped the school record of 179 set in 2005.
The Senior team captain has advanced to Regional play as an individual or as a team member her first three seasons. The win gave the Falcons a 16-5 season record, as well as 8-4 in the conference.
In four years as a varsity player, Abby has helped her team to a 70-27 record. Earlier this season, she finished in the Top 15 at the Northwood Tournament, shooting an 84. This year, she has been team medalist seven times and match medalist five times. Abby also plays basketball and tennis for the Falcons.
Abby is the daughter of Mark and Tracey Machnic.
