Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week 11-2-19

Kate Collins

Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Kate Collins, a member of the Girls Cross Country team at Winamac High School.

Kate was able to achieve a school record time in her final race of the season at Semi-State with a time of 19:34.4! The previous record had been held by her sister Claire, who is now running collegiate cross country at Indiana State University. Just a Sophomore, Kate was making her second appearance at the Semi-State level, and missed going to State by just three seconds. She had placed 2nd in the Sectional, and 14th in the Regional.

Kate also runs track for the Warriors, and placed second in the 1600 meter run in the Sectional as a Freshman, and eighth in the Regional.

Kate is the daughter of Jill and Adam Collins.

Congratulations to Kate Collins of Winamac High School, our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week.

Kate will receive a certificate suitable for framing, a history of the award, and a t-shirt commemorating her achievement, and will be a future guest on the Saturday Sportslin.

She will also be eligible for our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year Award next Spring, which carries with it a beautiful plaque and a college scholarship, compliments of WKVI and the family of Tyler Roth.
