Sanders Signs With Anderson!
Winamac Senior Hailey Sanders officially signed her Letter of Intent today, to continue her soccer career at Anderson University in Anderson Indiana. Hailey has been a positive contributor to Winamac High School throughout her athletic, as well as academic career, and was bubbling with excitement upon officially signing with Anderson early Wednesday morning.
“Anderson had been one of my top three choices since this summer” Sanders said following her signing. “My mom made me make a list of colleges I wanted to visit. Anderson was one of them”.
Sanders also received encouragement from an Anderson Alum during the season.
“This summer we had a new soccer assistant, she was from Anderson, and she talked to me about how she had played there” Sanders continued. “I was really intrigued. So we had a visit and I met all the soccer team and the coach, and I just fell in love with the campus and everything about it”. With a smile growing bigger and bigger on her face, Sanders talked about the sign she received from a higher power.
“I definitely had a sign from God, since Coach Destiny (Crawford) was there and I had already thought about it. So Anderson was my choice from there”.
Sanders was encouraged by what some of the current players at Anderson had to say.
“They talked about the family atmosphere” she said. “That was something I really wanted in a college. They loved the small campus and how they did everything together. So soccer is definitely one big family over there and I was really hoping I could join a team like that”.
When asked what her main focus would be as she prepared for her first year as a collegiate athlete, a slow smile curled on Sanders lip.
“This summer will be a lot of running. We have to meet certain bench marks when we go there for the beginning of the season. So Destiny will be helping me train the summer to hopefully get a starting spot”.
Sanders is hoping to become an Athletic Director in the future, and will be studying Sports Marketing during her time at Anderson.
