Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week 3/20/2021
Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Alex Lewark, a member of the Boys Basketball team at West Central High School.
A 5’10 Senior, Alex was the sixth man for the Trojans, averaging 1.6 points per game, and just under one rebound, steal, and block per game, but was a team leader in a very important way. Alex mentored a student at West Central as part of the school’s Peer Mentoring program. He meets with the student before, during, and after his classes, often times meeting up with him in the hallway, simply to ask how his day is going.
Coach B.J. Aldridge describes his Senior sixth-man as being a great example of what it means to live the “West Central Way”. He also displays the lessons learned in high school sports when you are not an on-court star.
Alex is the son of Bobby and Brandy Lewark. Congratulations to Alex Lewark of West Central High School, our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week.
Alex will receive a certificate suitable for framing, a history of the award, and a t-shirt commemorating his achievement. In addition, he will be a future guest on the Saturday Sportsline. He will also be eligible for our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year award next Spring which carries with it a beautiful plaque and a college scholarship, compliments of WKVI and the family of Tyler Roth.
